Activities Week

We are pleased to share details of this year's Bournside Activities Week, which takes place from Monday 13th July - Friday 17th July

We are continuing to run Activities Week by year group. Each student can choose one package from their Year Group package options below. Package options run on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

All students in Year 7-9 will take part in interactive STEM workshops in school on the Monday of Activities Week, and it is the whole school Bournside Sports Day on the Friday.

How to select a package
  1. Review the Package options for your child's Year Group below.
  2. Confirm your choice by paying the deposit for your chosen package via MCAS (Trips tab). Please note, if a Package option is no longer showing on MCAS, it is likely to be full.  
  3. Payment dates: 
    • Initial booking deadline/deposit due - Thursday 5th March
    • Second and final payment due - Thursday 7th May
Important Information
  • Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Some venues cannot take bookings so far in advance, so activities may change if required. If this happens, we will arrange a similar alternative.
  • If a student has not chosen a package by Thursday 5th March, they will be expected to attend school. 
  • Students in receipt of Pupil Premium will receive £25 off the total cost of each package. Please note, the deposit must still be paid by Thursday 5th March.
  • If you wish to make any changes to your package choice, please do so within 14 days of paying your deposit. Changes are subject to availability in an alternative package.
  • All Activities Week deposits are non-refundable.
Residential Trips

If your child has already selected a residential trip that takes place during Activities Week, you do not need to select an Activities Week package.

Activities Week provides you with a fantastic opportunity for you to experience enriching experiences with friends, experiences which cannot always be delivered during the normal school day. From past experience, we know that students return from these trips with stories to tell, increased self-confidence, greater motivation to learn new skills, and often, brand new friendships too!

All Year 7 students will take part in an interactive STEM workshop in school on the Monday of Activities Week, and it is the whole school Bournside Sports Day on the Friday. Package options run on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Notes for parents/carers: Activities Week is an integral part of our school calendar and there is an expectation that every student will participate fully throughout the week. If you do not select a Package for your child, they will remain in school for the week. There is a maximum number of places for each Package and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. If a package is not visible in MCAS it is likely to be full.

Bristol Zoo Project:

A visit to the Bristol Zoo Project will allow students will wander through large, naturalistic habitats while learning about conservation work happening behind the scenes. 

Bowling and Pitville Park:

Some think it’s luck, others think it’s skill, either way, join your friends for a game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl with its state-of-the-art bowling lanes. We’ll be walking from school and heading to Pitville Park too.

Bushcraft Day:

Our bushcraft activity day will mean spending time outdoors learning practical survival skills like fire‑lighting, shelter‑building, and making items from wood. It will be hands‑on and adventurous, students will get a real sense of connection to nature while working with simple tools and natural materials. This will be based on school site. 

Cotswold Beach:

Students will spend the day enjoying the Cotswold Beach facilities, including the Aqua Venture course. If students wish, they can pay extra to have a go on pedalos, paddleboarding &/or electric boats.

Everyman Theatre Workshop:

A workshop at the Everyman Theatre will give students the chance to dive into practical theatre skills, whether that’s acting, movement, voice work, or elements of stagecraft. Students will spend time learning from theatre professionals who guide them through creative exercises that build confidence and spark imagination.

Legoland:

A Design & Technology led trip to Legoland with links to Science. Students will attend a hands-on workshop and have time to enjoy the rides too, including the new Speedway ride!

Lido: 

Students are invited to join us for a trip to enjoy the popular outdoor pool with their friends. We will walk or cycle together from the school and enjoy a day of poolside fun in the fresh air.

270 Climbing

A 4-hour session at the 270 Climbing Park. Including two hours on the high ropes course, 45 minutes of tower activities and 45 minutes on the mobile climbing wall.

Golfing Day

This is a day at Sherdons Golf Centre. Students will spend half the day on the well‑kept practice ranges, and a second half of the day on the adventure fun course.  All abilities welcome! Come and learn a new skill or refine your current one.

Drayton Manor

Explore over 50 rides with friends at Drayton Manor Resort, plus a 15-acre Zoo. Thrill rides include Stormforce 10, Thor, Maelstrom, Air Race and the Bounty Pirate Ship.

Ice Skating and Shopping

All abilities are welcome to come and give ice-skating a go at Planet Ice! Shopping and the option of buying lunch at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway will be followed by ice-skating.

Oxford Pitt Rivers and National History Museum

Students will visit two Oxford University museums. Founded in 1884 the atmospheric building houses more than 500,000 amazing objects.

St Fagans Cardiff

A day at St Fagans in Cardiff feels like wandering through a living timeline, with historic buildings, crafts, and demonstrations bringing Welsh history to life all around you. Students will have workshops on school life and what shops used to be like back in 1940's.

Some think it’s luck, others think it’s skill, either way, join your friends for a game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl with its state-of-the-art bowling lanes. We’ll be walking from school and heading to Pitville Park too.

Bugsboarding

Bugsboarding is a downhill mountainboarding and bike park located near Hartpury. This will offer students a whirl of downhill runs, grassy slopes, and that satisfying mix of speed and soft landings that makes mountain boarding feel instantly addictive. A very friendly vibe, open to all abilities, a day in the open countryside, and the steady rhythm of ride‑climb‑repeat.

Cadbury's World

A trip to Cadbury World blends the fun of chocolate-making with hands‑on learning about how cocoa is grown, traded, and turned into the treats people know so well. Students will move through interactive zones that explain the history of the Cadbury family, the development of the factory, and the science behind chocolate production.

Everyman Theatre Tour and Workshop

A theatre tour and workshop at the Everyman Theatre gives Students a behind‑the‑scenes look at how productions come to life, from the wings and rehearsal spaces to the technical areas most audiences never see. Students will get hands‑on time exploring performance skills or stagecraft techniques with guidance from theatre professionals. 

Lido

Students are invited to join us for a trip to enjoy the popular outdoor pool with their friends. We will walk or cycle together from the school and enjoy a day of poolside fun in the fresh air.

Malvern Walk

Students will walk along the Malvern Hills, an undulating ridge where ancient geology shapes sweeping views across Worcestershire and Herefordshire. The route blends steep ascents, airy summits, and quiet wooded slopes, creating a landscape that feels both dramatic and deeply peaceful. It will be a challenging but enjoyable day led by the Geography department.
