  • Future leaders celebrate exceptional A Level results at Cheltenham Bournside School

    Cheltenham Bournside School’s sixth formers are celebrating an exceptional set of results and the bright futures of our vets, engineers, lawyers, historians, performers and more, with students achieving top grades and securing places at leading universities and career pathways. This year, Cheltenham Bournside School is celebrating its best results in three years with students gaining an average points score of 34.3. 30 students gained an average grade of an A or A* in all of their subjects, with 21 students achieving straight A* or A grades. Steve Jefferies, Headteacher, said, “I’d like to congratulate the teachers, parents and above all the students whose talent, hard work and determination has been rewarded today with a fantastic set of results – the best since the disruption in grades caused by the pandemic.

    Everyone at Cheltenham Bournside School is officially bursting with pride, because our beloved school dog, Lottie, has been shortlisted for the prestigious National School Dog Alliance (NSDA) School Dog of the Year Award 2025 ! Selected from a nationwide pool of inspiring entries, Lottie caught the attention of judges from the NSDA , RSPCA , and PDSA for her exceptional impact on student wellbeing and the school’s unwavering commitment to her health, happiness, and professional training. Whether Lottie is helping anxious students feel calm, listening to readers who need a confidence boost, or simply snoozing in the welfare office with her best mate (and daughter), Olive, Lottie is much more than just a school dog - she’s a much-loved member of the team at Bournside. Notifying us of the good news, a representative from the NSDA said; "The shortlisting panel was incredibly impressed by the outstanding work being done at Bournside and the clear commitment to best practice, not only in how your school dog supports pupils, but also in how you prioritise Lottie's wellbeing.

    Cheltenham Bournside School has been awarded the CyberFirst Gold Award by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) , recognising our continued commitment to cyber education and digital literacy, empowering students with the skills needed for success in an increasingly technology-driven world. The CyberFirst Schools programme, backed by the NCSC and GCHQ, recognises schools that provide excellent cyber and computing education. Bournside’s award reflects years of dedicated development in its curriculum, facilities, and enrichment activities, having previously achieved the CyberFirst Silver award in 2022. We are thrilled to have been recognised with the CyberFirst Gold Award, an award we will now hold for three years.

  • Bournside delivers 'spectacular' production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast

    "This year's Musical Production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast has been outstanding! The student's commitment, enthusiasm, and talent has grown through-out the 5 month process and helped craft stunning moments such as Kai Attwood's moving solo, Lucy Cottard's joyous rendition of the song 'Beauty and the Beast', and Georgie Johnson's strong characterisation and delivery as Lumiere . Helped craft stunning moments such as Kai Attwood's moving solo, and Lucy Cottard's joyous rendition of the song 'Beauty and the Beast. Not only this but we saw hilarious performances from Mia Burnett as the ticked-off Cogsworth , Jaydee Mornet as the virtuoso Madame de la Grande Bouche , Julia Gold as the eccentric Maurice , Immy Merrylees-Lane as ensemble extraordinaire, and Olivia Caton as lead dancer, who all performed in their last Bournside production.

  • School Awards 2024

    On Tuesday evening, more than 80 students and their families gathered at the Parabola Arts Centre in Cheltenham to celebrate the Bournside School Awards 2024. The now annual event recognised outstanding academic achievement and academic progress as well as the broader contributions of individual students to the life of the school. This year, 18 students from Year 9-11 were invited to the ceremony to receive the prestigious Headteacher’s Award 2024. A new addition to the awards last year, the Headteacher’s Award is given in recognition of consistently achieving the highest academic standards, demonstrating a positive attitude to learning, contributing to the school community, and maintaining excellent attendance.

  • Highly skilled Year 9 students perform an 'innovative and creative Macbeth' at the Schools Shakespeare Festival 2024

    22 talented Year 9 students impressed an audience of over 200 people with their take on Macbeth, peformed on the professional stage at The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury at the beginning of November. Their performance was part of the Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival , the world's largest youth drama festival. Each year thousands of young people unite to take part and the Festival culminates with exhilarating performance evenings in professional theatres across the country, raising aspirations and unlocking their potential. "SSF gives students the opportunity to work as an ensemble-based theatre company where they can create work inspired by contemporary theatre makers.

  • South Africa Sports Tour 2025 - First fundraiser planned

    In our first international sports tour since 2019, Bournside netball, football and rugby teams will be travelling to Cape Town to compete against South African schools in the Connect Festival of Unity in July 2025. 73 students are set to travel the 6000 miles to the adventure capital of South Africa to experience sport and outdoor activities amidst stunning landscapes. In the jam-packed itinerary, students will have the chance to soak up the breath-taking views of Cape Town from Table Mountain, immerse themselves in local culture, test their nerve on a zipline through the Cape canopy, and potentially spot the big 5 on two safari game drives whilst staying on a game reserve. "The 2024 Bournside Sports Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience, blending the thrill of sports with the exploration of the rich cultural and natural wonders that South Africa has to offer.
